Hello there! My name is Nathan Wu and I'm a first year Computer Science major at UC Irvine. I have always been surrounded by computers because my dad is a software engineer. As a child, I was fascinated in what a computer could do and accomplish. The years of fascination ultimately led me to choosing my major.
When I am not studying, there are many things that I enjoy doing in my free time, including watching/playing basketball, listening to music, and watching shows. I have a brown belt in Karate and am a proud Eagle Scout.
So far, the college experience has been great. It feels great to be surrounded by so many intelligent individuals who are so willing to learn. Writing 39B will be my first writing course in college and although I am not sure what to expect, I know I will try my best. In past writing classes, I was always afraid of timed writing. I never seemed to have enough time to finish. I would always have writer's block and would waste about five to ten minutes before I actually got started. I'm hoping that through this class, I will become a better writer and that ideas will come to me more naturally.
As a writer, I think that I am adequate and conveying my thoughts on a subject. However, I feel that I am still lacking in a few areas. At times, I am not concise and talk about useless things instead of getting to the point. As a result, the reader is not completely sure what my argument is. I am, however, good at using transitions and supporting my quotes with commentary.
